Cherish Both Life & Death

crocus-6179It was a very special day for my family. My sister gave birth to my niece at approximately 6:30am this morning.  It was an emotional time for us even though I wasn’t there in the hospital room with her physically. I was able to offer her the support she needed delivering her first baby. My sister and I have been bonding during her pregnancy and patching up lose ends in our relationship. It’s been such a blessing to be by her side during this precious time. Our family history is priceless and will be explained in a later post :-).

Recently, I learned of a death which was connected with my sons. My sons lost their uncle in a tragic event. This was a really sad and disturbing time for us. Gun violence to the innocent is so common in America. This is what took his life. It was painful explaining to my sons that they will not see their uncle again in this life. It’s been a few years since they’ve seen him, but children remember connecting with the ones they love. Most of our family reside on the outskirts of Chicago, but in these times of high crime and innocent blood shed, we keep our distance. My sons would speak of him and his aunts often, because they remember the impact on their lives.

We all have a clear understanding that we have to leave this human life when it’s time. However, losing a loved one hurts and quite often we’re left without an explanation. Death follows life in a cycle to renew and replenish. The humans who have once walked this earth have made an impact. It’s up to our Creator to judge their path. When souls are taken at a young age, I believe these spirits have fulfilled their purpose according to God’s plan.

Cherishing both life and death is like enjoying the change in seasons. With fall and winter, the weather is colder, the leaves turn colors, and the trees become naked. Depending on where you may live, it will snow and freeze the ground and trees. Nights become longer and days shorter. However, look at spring and summer and how everything replenishes. The leaves grow back on the trees, the grass is green again, flowers blossom beautifully, and the weather becomes warmer. Days becomes longer and nights shorter. This cycle is beautiful and is amazing in it’s own way. The loved ones we have lost lives within all of us.
