Just Do It! Yes, I said it & here’s why…


I’ve lived in Las Vegas for 11 years altogether. I’ve been to just about all of the surrounding states except California! Yes, I know it may seem sad, but hear me out. Since I moved from Chicago when I was 18, I really didn’t have a desire to travel anywhere else in the world. I was afraid of heights and my younger mindset just wasn’t adventurous. So later in life, I wanted to travel more. I made that happen my visiting New Orleans, St. Louis and Houston, TX and most states surrounding Nevada. After visiting, we later resided in St. Louis and Dallas, TX or a while.

So instead of thinking about going to California and possibly visiting one day (I knew thinking about it would never make it a reality), I booked bus tickets to Los Angeles last night at approximately 7pm. We left Las Vegas at 12:01am arriving in LA at 4:46am this morning. I’m tired, but we control and create our experiences by choices. My youngest was excited to know that we were packing to leave for California in a few hours. My oldest, Jordan is a teenager now and a bit unsure of my spontaneous move (darn teenagers lol). He’s pretty excited now and it enjoying the trip.

I’m sharing this with you to say, whatever more you want to do, Just DO it! Most people want to make moves in life, but are too afraid to DO IT! Their minds start giving them every excuse on why they should not accomplish a goal or do something they have always wanted to accomplish. If you’re struggling with decisions, tell your brain to be quiet and make radical action!

A Healthy Life Starts With These 3 Factors

Beauty & wellness are together whether we want to admit it or not. There are tons of beauty products that promise results when you use them. There are wellness products that promise the same. However, to live a healthy life, you must take these three keys factors into consideration in everything you do.

Before I dive into these three factors, it’s best to remember that you can do whatever you feel is best for you. Do what makes you happy. After going Vegan over a year ago, I researched a lot. I learned through trial and error whether it was physical or mental. I found out a ton of information online and at the library. I purchased books from Barnes and Noble which helped me on my journey to a healthier, happier life.

The three factors are: mind, body and spirit. There is so much that falls under these 3 categories. To keep this short, today I’m bringing general info that may give you an idea of why having all three aligned with the universe can bring you a healthy life. From my journey, I’ve learned that this is the only way to live a happy and healthy life. I will elaborate on what has helped me find peace, embrace love and how blessings keeps coming our way as a family.

Mind. The mind literally deals with a mentality of how we deal with every aspect of life. We can have a mentality to succeed, or a mentality to fail. It’s all in how we think. It’s based on how the mind works and how we  perceive this world. I went from having a mentality of barely getting by just waking up everyday to becoming a better version of myself. When I became pregnant with my first son at 20, my mentality shifted from waking up and getting by to becoming the best mother and woman I could be. I went from being angry and misunderstood to being optimistic and having a clue of what I wanted to do with my life. Around the time my second son was born 2 years later, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. There was no turning back and I made the sacrifices necessary to accomplish those goals. One of those goals was investing in beauty school to become a Cosmetologist. It took me 2 1/2 years, but it was so worth it.

The mind is a very powerful tool that can think for us automatically or we can monitor our thoughts more frequently by taking our minds off auto pilot. In other words, simply taking control of our lives. We literally become what we think about. So whatever we think about frequently, and ponder on with passion will come to past whether it is good or bad. This even goes for being around people who don’t wish the best for you. If someone says hurtful things to break your mind and spirit, it’s easy to start believing it subconsciously. This is just because our subconscious mind picks up everything and will store it for later. This can make us second guess ourselves when someone thinks something negative about us. This is why it’s so important to limit the individuals in our lives to those who only wish the best for us. 

Once taking the time to focus on the positive outlook in life and stop trying to control the little that we can’t control, the mind becomes a healthier place. Focus on the great things you want & not how bad something is going right now. This makes all the difference to be in the driver’s seat of your life. This is the first step to reaching the goal of a healthy life.

Body. The body is tool to utilize. The body is extremely amazing and can help us have longevity in this life. Unfortunately, some still haven’t taken into consideration the harmful toxins we eat that are marketed as food. The truth is very little on the market is real food. For instance, I was having a conversation with a few ladies recently. We were talking about food (one of my favorite topics these days). A couple of these ladies were like, they know the harmful effects of meat and dairy products. They had no interest in changing there ways or even taking a healthier lifestyle info consideration. I always mention to people I mentor about how important it is to take baby steps into greatness (mentally & physically). We’re not perfect. I remember when I was starting out on a Vegan diet and how I got really sick one time for eating a few chicken wings from a restaurant. It’s easy to crave something, but hard to deal with the consequences. 

I mentioned the health benefits of not eating flesh and how important it is to live a healthier lifestyle to these women. They had no interest helping themselves to possibly save their own lives not their families’ lives. As a melanated woman in America, lately, I’ve been seeing women fight illness & diseases like breast cancer. Many women, especially those of color, are dealing with hysterectomies and are headed towards disaster if some things don’t change. Women of color are number one for breast cancer, hysterecomies and other feminine related illnesses. I tell these ladies all the time, it’s starts with the food in our kitchens, in the fast food restaurants, in the flesh of dead animals and drinking another species milk.

Our bodies are our temple and is the only tool to thrive in this physical world. We can’t pray over food that we know harms us. This just doesn’t make sense when you honestly think about it. I was raised Baptist and we used to pray over our pork chops, dead collard greens that took 3 hours to cook, and fried chicken. When I spent 10 years in a non-denomination, Hebrew Israellite church, we didn’t eat unclean food such as pork, duck and unclean seafood. However, we ate beef, lamb and all of these other precious animals. My point is that we were still eating dead flesh. Now that I have changed my lifestyle, I try my hardest to make the healthiest decisions for my temple. Yes, some days I have a moment, but I still make my best effort to take care of my temple. The human body is the second key to a healthy life. When we know better, we should do better.

“Flesh was never created, by our creator for human consumption.” 

Spirit. It’s so important to have a connection with ourselves and our higher power. I remember when I used to believe I was just this walking flesh on this planet. I’m so far pass this now :). When I learned I was energy, I was power, and electric being who was made my creator image, It was a life changer for me. I started to live a life that I didn’t know was possible. I meditate, pray and listen to music that sits well with my soul. I started to do things that opened up doors for me in my life that I would not have completely understood just 2 years ago. I started to understand the female energy and understand why it was so important for me to accept who I was. There was a point of time when I was lost and confused about myself as a woman. Tradition tells us that women are less dominant and inferior to men regardless of the super power men see we possess everyday.

Our spirit should be at peace everyday regardless of the obstacles we face. Its hard to be at peace and on track to a healthier life when the world is in chaos (especially is you follow to horrible news). It’s even worst with going to a job that doesn’t resignate with who you are. It’s even worst having children in this society. Let’s not even mention the public school systems. We have to find peace and have love in our spirit to be healthy, happy and to be fulfilled. Authentic love is something the world lacks, but it needed abundantly. This is the third factor of having a healthier life.

If you’re looking for ways to be at peace with yourself, focus on building awareness to your mind, body and spirit. Spread love and allow yourself to be loved. Eat healthier foods to promote a healthier body. Let go of anything that doesn’t bring you happiness (this can be difficult, but it’s so worth it). Pray & meditate frequently. Put a smile on someone’s face. The universe will send you everything you need you’re ready to receive it 😉


The BEST Way To Start Your Day (It’s not with coffee:-))

The best way to give your day a boost isn’t by drinking a cup of coffee. Yes, I said it! We drink coffee for that beautiful caffeine pick up and it puts such a huge smile on our faces right? Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy a cup of coffee occasionally.

What I found to be better than coffee in the morning was delicious, mouth-watering fruit! When I stopped running to the store in the mornings, I began drinking smoothies. When I didn’t have time for smoothies, I started to pick up fruit. I usually would eat a banana in the a.m. with an apple or an orange. However, things started to change when I would pick up a ripe mangoes, darkened strawberries, blackberries and prickly pears. I started to notice how I would get the same “happy feeling” I would get while drinking a cup of coffee.

Coffee stimulates the neurotransmitter dopamine in our bodies. This simply means that it releases a sensation that is makes us feel as if we’re in the best state of our lives at that very moment. Several illegal drugs have been created with dopamine in mind so it can be as highly addictive as coffee. As we can see, they did succeed with this idea.

Sweet fruits on the other hand are similar to coffee causing some amazing effects! They have been linked to making us feel happier and more satisfied. From my personal experience, fruit is strong enough to make us happy while eliminating any sugar cravings. A while back, I really had a taste for a piece of candy. There was a storm going on outside so I had to wait for the storm to pass before I would go to the store. I had some mangoes that were ripe and ready to eat. So I sliced a mango. While eating this mango, I went from being a bit irritable about going to the store to a happy camper. It was the best satisfying natural snack I’ve had! This fruit completely eliminating my sweet tooth. From that moment on, I made it my bet interest to keep fruit handy at all times. This is what helped me lose 30 pounds :-).

Fruit is also known for raising our mood and making us feel as if we’re doing a great deal to our bodies. This is a feeling is a fact, because we are electric beings. As long as we breathe oxygen and our hearts beat, we are alive. We need alive foods to feed our temple and give us the best fulfilled life while we are on this planet physically.

When we consume meat, pasta, sugar and other products sold as food on a continuous basis, we are harming our body and telling it this: Body you are a trash can. You are not a temple. This is indeed the opposite, because our body is our temple. It is our responsibility to feed it properly so it can thrive.

When you’re Awake In A Sleep World: My Thoughts On Vegas Attack @ Mandalay Bay

I worked at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on Saturday (9/30) & Monday (10/1). I was assigned to work there for the NetApp Convention until Wednesday evening. To avoid paying for parking ($15/day), I parked down at Tropicana Hotel which is at Tropicana Avenue/Las Vegas Blvd. To avoid parking so far on Sunday, I was dropped off and picked up. Each time whether I was walking or driving, I had to pass the Route 91 Country Festival, go through the Mandalay Bay and make my way to the Conventuon Center. While walking by, I noticed happy people in their cowboy/cowgirl attire saying hello & locking eyes with me as they passed. After working at Sheplers for one winter season some years back, I’ve learned to appreciate a great pair of authentic Western boots :). It was such a great crowd of people at this event. 

On Sunday at approximately 8pm, I just had this bad feeling and knew something wasn’t right. It also seemed as if everything was getting in the way to stop me from attending my 6am shift Monday morning. I woke up several times in the middle of the night & only had about 4 hours of sleep. I officially woke up to check the time on my phone. It was a little after 5am. I had a Facebook notification that said one of my facebook friends were “safe” in Las Vegas. When I saw this, I sat up, became alert & a bit worried about the possibilities. I then did a google search in Las Vegas. The most devastating news was in the search engine. “40 dead, over 400 injured deadly shooting.” I saw the words Mandalay Bay & Route 91. Yes the worst happened. 

All I could think of is how these people were having a great time. How I passed this festival alone and how we were stuck in the busy Strip traffic with my children in the car. I thought of how all the madness taken place in this world, the country festival, which I’m positive promoted great vibes was the place this massacre took place. 

What was this man’s motive? What would make someone to get a hotel room on the 32nd floor overlooking the event and open fire on an outdoor festival with over 20,000 people present??? What in the hell ticked this guy off? Why at one of the most EVER peaceful event on the Las Vegas strip??? From my experience, here’s my thoughts:

People are unsure where this world is going. Many are finding out that we’ve been living in a big fat lie where in America. Inflation is almost at its peak, cost of living keep rising, social media was a great thing until many found a way to spread a negative message causing people to live in fear more than ever, what we used to consider food isn’t food anymore, politics are corrupt and living out there own agendas, the American safety net is disappearing, 

Why You Should Eat Little To No Corn & Soy Products

Soy and corn are very popular and used for many food products, but they aren’t as safe as some may believe. Here are reasons why I eat little to no corn and soy products.

Corn used to be my favorite veggie! It’s huge, bright yellow, really sweet and I loved it! I rarely ever eat corn, because it’s a GMO. I was beyond disappointed to know my love, the corn on the cob wasn’t real anymore. It is grown with harmful pesticides that can damage our bodies. Corn wasn’t naturally gigantic in size. This indicates growth hormones have been used for a long time. It’s sweet, because of added sugars. Synthetic sugar isn’t recognized in the body. Sugar stores fat in the body. These were more than enough reasons to let go of my corn.

Soy on the other hand is a man made invention just like many other foods, animals, and so forth. When I gave up dairy milk four years ago, I started to drink soy milk. I met a lady  who warned me about drinking soy and how it affects the female body. Soy has added estrogen which comes from certain plants. From my research, the resources have made claims that it doesn’t harm women. I personally decided not to take that chance anymore. There’s so much that throws our hormones off balance that I refused to take a gamble with soy. Soy is also known to have been present in certain paint products. Some also have made claims that soy is strong enough to change someone’s sexual orientation. I stopped eating tofu, I changed my buttery spreads to soy free and no longer use soy sauce. I read just about every label on my products before I make purchases, because I’m aware of my temple and treat it special.

So why would I recommend these two foods over everything for sweetness? These two are still natural! Most of our foods aren’t food. They cause harm our temples unlike foods that are grown and prepared in their natural state.



Question Everything – Your Life Is Precious

textgram_1497747987Physical death is something we never want to experience, but its a fact we face sooner or later in this life. Premature death seems to keep rising here in the USA. This made me put self education first and grow closer to understanding this life outside of our “man made” society. To dig deeper into natural remedies and live a healthier lifestyle.

According to the Washington Post, the third leading cause of death in the U.S. is medical errors. In this country, we’ve been trained to trust our medical professionals knowing that they have our best interest (our precious, price less life) at hand. Its sad and gets under my skin to hear how people die, because their trusted doctor issued the wrong prescription or didn’t diagnose their patients properly. No one should ever have to make funeral arrangements for this kind of premature death. These situations are preventable.

Why aren’t doctors getting time in prison when these careless events take place? How can we help ourselves when we face health challenges?

Here’s what I’ve learned since I’ve become more aware.

When you visit your doctor, ask questions and make sure they are answered properly. Nowadays, its easy to spend 2 hours in an office for a doctor visit just to see the doctor for a total of 5 minutes. In the past, I’ve had to slow my doctor down more than once to ask questions and get my questions answered thoroughly. Why is this? I’m not saying all doctors are like this, but these people exists. They are paid very much and spend very little time with their patients. Make sure your doctor is listening and care for you. If your provider can’t deliver, find one who will.

Natural remedies are saving lives! The less you’re at the doctor, the less money they make. So there had to be a way for you to always come back right? Its called marketing! If you’re healthy, they are broke. If you’re unhealthy, everyone is happy except you and your family :(. So do you continue to go with the waves that are falling off the cliff to their death or do you go against those waves to save your life?
