Why You Should Eat Little To No Corn & Soy Products

Soy and corn are very popular and used for many food products, but they aren’t as safe as some may believe. Here are reasons why I eat little to no corn and soy products.

Corn used to be my favorite veggie! It’s huge, bright yellow, really sweet and I loved it! I rarely ever eat corn, because it’s a GMO. I was beyond disappointed to know my love, the corn on the cob wasn’t real anymore. It is grown with harmful pesticides that can damage our bodies. Corn wasn’t naturally gigantic in size. This indicates growth hormones have been used for a long time. It’s sweet, because of added sugars. Synthetic sugar isn’t recognized in the body. Sugar stores fat in the body. These were more than enough reasons to let go of my corn.

Soy on the other hand is a man made invention just like many other foods, animals, and so forth. When I gave up dairy milk four years ago, I started to drink soy milk. I met a lady  who warned me about drinking soy and how it affects the female body. Soy has added estrogen which comes from certain plants. From my research, the resources have made claims that it doesn’t harm women. I personally decided not to take that chance anymore. There’s so much that throws our hormones off balance that I refused to take a gamble with soy. Soy is also known to have been present in certain paint products. Some also have made claims that soy is strong enough to change someone’s sexual orientation. I stopped eating tofu, I changed my buttery spreads to soy free and no longer use soy sauce. I read just about every label on my products before I make purchases, because I’m aware of my temple and treat it special.

If you’ve wondered about these two “foods” I hope this information is helpful to you.

You Should Be Proud When…

As a parent, one of the proudest moments is to see the accomplishments of your children. Many times, as moms we forget about ourselves and put the family first. Its a great feeling when those sacrifices were so worth it!

School ends in 4 days and my sons would have officially finished 4th and 6th grade! I’m so proud of them! This year has had its ups and downs, but we made it through!

This school year (2016-17) was the first year I made a leap of faith to have my sons attend virtual school from home. We found a great school with a great cirriculum and pushed through!

It was by far a walk in the park. You know how your children are different in school and come home being themselves right? Well when the kiddos go to school at home, they have no choice, but to be who they are. With this, I’ve learned Jordan is a class clown and play with his pencils when he’s bored. Jt is the perfectionist and is down when he doesn’t get 100% on all his assignments.

Many parents know these traits of their children based on speaking with teachers and students. However, when you are the Learning Coach, when the teacher is there occasionally life is different. You see most of your child’s strengths and weaknesses unfold right in front of you.

After presevering through this school year, we made the decision to stay in the virtual world for the upcoming year 2017-18 with their current school.

So here’s what Im proud of….

1. We went Vegan and have done our best to stay meat free 98% of the time. Dairy free 80% of the time. Cheese has been the hardest to let go!

2. Jordan no longer eats candy after learning that his favorites are GMOs.

3. Meditation and Yoga has been a big part of our lives.

4. I’ve lost weight during the school year and now on a mission to lose even more all summer long!

5. The boys will remain Gifted and Talented students next school year!

I have a lot to be proud and thankful for.

How did your children make you proud this school year? How did you persevere when you made a needed sacrifice for your kids?

Tips to Start a Healthy Food Lifestyle

textgram_1480388707.png

It can be challenging starting a healthy eating plan that actually works. We live in a world where most of our food is a joke and is making huge corporations wealthy. Some say not to worry about buying organic fruits and vegetables because there’s a very little difference while others highly recommend these foods. No matter how difficult it may be, I’m here to tell you that there’s still hope to live a better life and there’s no need to settle in poor eating habits. Here are some tips that can help you get started in the right direction!

Consuming Less Starch & Wheat

Pasta can be a tasty, fulfilling dish, but there can be some problems with eating too much of it. Pasta is full of chemicals that can cause complications in the body including cancer and other illnesses. Too much starch isn’t good for our bodies period. It’s not easy to just go cold turkey and let it go either. Believe me, I still enjoy a good pasta dish from time to time. Wheat contains gluten which is glue. It causes our intestines to stick together. Just think about that for a moment. We eat unhealthy foods that do not leave our bodies in an appropriate amount of time, then we’re eating gluten that makes our intestines stick together like glue. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. How we can deal with this situation is to eat starch in moderation while creating a diet which is high in fruits, vegetables, and natural herbs.

Eating Less Meat

Have you heard the horror stories about the meat in our local grocery stores? I have! This is one of the reasons why I decided to practice a Vegan lifestyle. It is horrifying to know that most of our foods cause the diseases we hear about today. How I began to eat less meat lowering my meat intake to 1 meal a day. It was either at lunch time or for an early dinner. This allowed my body to eventually adjust to consuming less meat. I added foods that are high in protein like chia seeds and quinoa seeds and a select few of nuts.

Remove Pesticides from Fruits and Vegetables

Due to the pesticides that are sprayed directly on these foods, Health Specialists recommend buying and consuming organic foods. In some cases, this is true, but not in all cases. Everything that’s organic isn’t considered the real deal. For instance, Organic Kale is considered a hybrid food. I was disgusted to see organic carrots which are a crossbred vegetable. Non-hybrid foods are foods that are grown naturally on this earth. They are pure, electric with nutrients and not crossed with any other foods. When it comes to eating non-organic foods, there are ways to detox these foods. I’ve found this detoxification recipe on YouTube. It’s on Jay Kordich’s channel (the link is here https://youtu.be/FYVgGwYeiU). For pesticide removal, they recommend putting your fruits and vegetables in a sink full of cold water, add juice from ½ lemon, 1 tablespoon of pink Himalayan sea salt, soak for 15 minutes and rinse. This is known to remove the pesticides from the outside of fruits and vegetables.

Hope these tips are helpful to get you started! God bless!

3 Ways To Maintain Your Healthy Lifestyle (My Current Journey)

20160927_184857-1.jpg

Last night’s dinner: Romaine lettuce, organic pinto beans, 1 avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers,  1 baked chicken tender strip (chopped), a splash of fresh-squeezed lemon juice & sriracha hot chili sauce. Yummy!

I LOVE food! I love it in many ways, but have been working on my eating habits. Since the last winter, I’ve been working on ways to get healthier and lose weight. I have a set goal for my weight loss and intend to lose these pounds within a 8 month period. So what’s helping me create gorgeous, tasty meals you see here? It’s these few things I’m taking into consideration.

1. Saying NO even when it seems impossible.

This can be such a struggle especially when someone is next to you with fried chicken and have enough to offer you a wing. I love fried chicken, but I know it’s not what’s best for my internal health. If you expect to reach my goals, you have to say NO and go the other way. When I think of my family members (including my deceased mother) who were obese and died from a serious illness, it really makes me afraid to go down the same path. Man-made foods taste great, but they’re not worth a premature death.

2. Surround yourself with kindred spirits who are serious  about their health.

It’s so important to be surrounded with people who are on a similar journey. This was complicated for me especially while living in Dallas, TX. I was surrounded by that 97% who complained about everything. They complained about their jobs, neighborhoods, the news, weather and the yellow shirt they wore when they wanted it to be blue. You name it! This is what I would hear everyday. So what started to happen was I began to isolate myself.  People weren’t as sociable either. So it was very challenging to connect with the right people. At this time, I was learning more about the mind, body and soul. Can you believe that some people would prefer to stay ignorant instead of make adjustments in their lives? I found myself trying to inform people on healthy eating habits, water intake, having your body in an alkaline state, etc. Those people weren’t listening, and could care less about my passion. As I started to see the pattern, I was no longer confused. I realized that I was talking to the wrong people. So when you’re on the right path regardless of what others think, the universe will send you the right spirits. This has happened to me first hand. Since I’ve changed my environment, I’ve been able to work on my goals. I exercise more and have been able to get great tips for cooking, Have those food for thought conversations and it’s reminded me of who I AM.

3. Make sure becoming healthy is something YOU are passionate about.

One thing I’ve learned for sure is this. Your change is for you and you only. If others are influenced by your positive changes, that’s a great thing! You’ll be changing lives and becoming a better person all at the same time. This can be very rewarding and can eventually pay off. I’ve learned to not force by passions on others.. When a person is ready to change their lifestyle habits, you will know in due time.

Kale Smoothie Gone Wrong!

green-682620_1920

This image was intended for the sake of this post and not the smoothie I personally made in my kitchen. Check below for my smoothie that didn’t come out so well 🙂

I love smoothies! I love them so much that I used to visit Smoothie King 5-6 times a week. My boys would have their fair share as well.  If you’ve been to this smoothie shop or a similar one, you’re familiar with how expensive it can become overtime. This is one reason why I began making my favorite snack/meal at home. The last time I visited was back in March of this year. I usually go through the drive thru, but decided to order inside the location this time. This was a new location in the Oak Lawn Dallas area, just a couple of minutes from where we lived before coming back to Vegas. I would usually order a berry smoothie or the Peanut Power Plus with Chocolate if I wanted a little more flavor. It tastes like resee cups and was a meal replacement smoothie which was something I took advantage of often.

I ordered and it was no problem as always. Just friendly service with my delicious smoothie in my hand. However, what I noticed was something that didn’t sit well with me. I ordered a berry smoothie & I noticed they used frozen fruits. I’m a fresh fruit kinda lady so it was a bit surprising to see I was paying about $7 plus tax for a smoothie that didn’t have fresh ingredients. There were no hard feelings with Smoothie King. I still enjoyed their services. I was a customer for 3 years. But this really made me think how would my smoothies turn out if I was to make them at home. Would I be satisfied? It was worth a try. After a few trial runs, I was able to create delicious smoothies. I bought Dole frozen fruit with strawberries, mangos, and pineapples with frozen yogurt a couple of times and loved it! Like I said, I’m not a huge fan of frozen fruit, so I was willing to give it a try on my own. I created all kind of shakes with natural ingredients and used only fresh fruits and vegetables! If I could catch a deal, these foods would be organic for sure. Here’s some images of the smoothies I’ve created.

Now here’s an image of the Kale smoothie I created. I used the simple foundation and built on it like I did my other smoothies, but this time it didn’t work. The presentation of this is beautiful, but the taste was horrible! Just being honest! I drop about a teaspoon of organic chia seeds in every smoothie I drink. I love the added nutrients.

My smoothie created at home which is gorgeous, but didn’t taste so well 😦

I asked several people how to create a kale smoothie. One lady used to work in a smoothie shop. Her response was I should cook the kale for added flavor and to soften the texture. I will master this smoothie in due time! Click here to check out this video of me and my youngest son creating a smoothie together. It was great bonding time and was beyond delicious! This is a great way to introduce little ones to healthy eating 🙂

30 Day Review for It Works! Products: Here’s WHY I’m A New Business Owner :-)

When finding a way to make $$$ part time working from home, I’m not the person who just look to sell anything. My goal is to believe in what I sell. The only way this can happen is being a consumer of what you potentially want to sell. In this case, that’s exactly what I did.

When I received my products in the mail, I received them one day early which was shocking! I paid for 2 day shipping, but received my products in less than 24 hours (great 1st impression). I ordered on a Friday and received them early Saturday afternoon. I then went on to try the HSN (Hair Skin Nails) vitamin supplements. I created a video on 5 Ways to Grow Your Natural Hair a year ago. In this video, I spoke about how I lost 1/3 of my hair (my entire crown and left side) to where it was pure bald. I wasn’t able to see any specs of possible growth, but it happened! With personal development, a healthy environment and natural solutions, I was able to grow my hair back! The only downfall with growing it back was that my hair was very thin in those areas.

Since I’ve been taking the HSN, I’ve been able to see those little specs coming in! Like you know those little tiny hair follicles :-). In addition to my hair growing back, I saw my belly shrink in 45 minutes!

Here’s how my belly looked after 2 days

I can gladly share these products, because after using them for a month, I know they actually work! I feel more confident and feel fantastic on a daily basis! I use these products to enhance my current lifestyle. I made the decision to make healthier eating choices, get physical activity & be the best person I can be!

I’ll be open for business on Monday March 7th! This is going to be so exciting, because I have the results! I see why business owners have longevity with this company! Wanna learn more Contact Me Here.
